Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hamid, has announced that the suicide bombers involved in the attacks on Darul Uloom Haqqania in Nowshera and Bannu have been identified. Speaking to a private TV channel, the IG revealed that investigations into both incidents are ongoing, with CCTV footage obtained and the bombers identified through their remains.
In the Bannu attack, the vehicles used have also been tracked, and it has been confirmed that foreign-made weapons were used. Authorities are now working to trace the origin of these weapons and how they entered the country.
IG Hamid further disclosed that over 100 suspects involved in destabilizing Kurram have been arrested. He noted that terrorism has now become a factor in the Kurram incidents, prompting the development of a separate strategy for the region. He expressed hope that no further incidents would occur.
The IG also shared plans to establish lasting peace in Kurram, stating that the Safe City Project has been approved and is expected to be completed within a few months.
The identification of the attackers and the ongoing investigations mark a significant step in addressing the recent wave of violence in the region. However, the use of foreign weapons highlights the complexity of the security challenges faced by law enforcement agencies.
